EBB – Emergency Broadband Benefit Program was a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program. It offers qualified low-income households a temporary reduction on monthly broadband expenses.

Per household, only one monthly service discount and one device discount were permitted. Besides, consumers must participate in the EBB Program with a participating provider. Then, the providers would provide internet services and devices for those who are eligible (not all service providers offer device discounts). The consumer will directly received a discount from the service provider.

To replace the Emergency Broadband Benefit Initiative, Congress launched the Affordable Connectivity Program. It’s a new $14 billion long-term program. This investment in broadband affordability will ensure that we can continue to afford the connections. From there, the program helped many people in work, school, health care, and other purposes for a long time.

During a 60-day transition period, households registered in the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program as of December 31, 2021, would continue to receive their existing monthly benefit.
